a yoga & vedanta retreat

February 7-10th, 2019

Join us to the ancient and sacred city of Varanasi, for a yoga retreat combined with vedic wisdom. It is our offering to take you on an enriching inner journey for four days, exploring the wholeness and completeness that we are.

During this retreat, we will share with you yoga classes for all levels, vedanta classes, workshops & exercises, and space to absorb the beauty of Varanasi.

Varanasi, being one of the oldest inhabited places of the world, is known for its sacred sites, temples, ghats (riverbank) and rituals. It has an indescribable energy that provides us a conducive environment for inner reflection and spiritual activities. We will get the opportunity to wander through the old lanes with a guide, meditate on the ghats, enjoy a boat ride, visit temples, and more.

The Venue

We will be staying at the Varanasi Yogashala, located at Assi Ghat. It is a beautiful and simple set up, with views of the Ganga and delicious home made food. Rooms are on sharing basis and have an en-suite bathroom.

We will have two yoga classes in a day; hatha yoga in the morning and yin yoga in the evening. Classes include pranayama and meditation. The vedic wisdom classes will be covering Karma Yoga, which in many ways is yoga off the mat. Drawing from the wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita,  we explore how we can be the best version of ourselves in the many situations we face in life.

The Vedic tradition from which Yoga has emerged reveals to us that we are living a full and complete life when we relate to five sets of relationships that we all have. Our relationships to people, the environment, our ancestors, teachers and deities. We will explore what this means for each of us so that we can invoke their grace and blessings and relate to all in an enriched and abundant manner than with a mindset of scarcity. These classes will be a combination of lectures, journaling, experiences and sharing.

The Teachers

This retreat is taught by Lakshya and Swamini B. They are dear friends, and as they say "Guru Behens" - female batch mates or literally sisters, who shared three years together studying with their Guru Sri Swami Dayananda Saraswati ji.

In keeping with the tradition, Swamini B is a traditional and contemporary teacher of Advaita Vedanta. She has been studying Vedanta since 1998 and has dedicated  her life  to sharing the ancient Vedic teachings of oneness and dharma. Swamini is also a qualified psychologist, and works with harnessing students' emotions and their inner child. With her warm heart and great sense of humour, it is truly a pleasure to learn with Swamini B, as your guide by the side!
